Containing 240 g/l Oxyfluorfen,
ORPALIS belongs to the Aryloxyphenoxy-propionates chemical group and is formulated as an Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC). As a selective herbicide, ORPALIS is designed for use in controlling specific annual grasses and broadleaf weeds across a variety of crops including orchards, grapes, tobacco, peppers, tomatoes, coffee, rice, potato, soybeans, cotton, tea, sunflower, onions, and more. Its mechanism of action involves creating a chemical barrier on the soil surface, which inhibits plant emergence for up to three months due to Oxyfluorfen’s prolonged soil half-life. This barrier affects all plants attempting to emerge through the soil surface via contact, and Oxyfluorfen also targets actively growing weeds directly. ORPALIS should be applied at a volume of 200 – 300 liters of water per hectare to achieve optimal coverage. It controls a wide range of weeds such as Amsinckia, Barley Grass, Barnyard Grass, and many others.

Safety Precautions and Recommendations

Hazards and Warnings:

  • Causes serious eye irritation.
  • Causes skin irritation.
  • Very toxic to aquatic life.
  • Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.

Precautionary Measures:

  • Wear protective gloves, clothing, eye, and face protection.
  • Avoid release to the environment.
  • Collect spillage.
  • Store secured in original closed containers in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place away from food, feed, seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural chemicals.
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons, and animals.

First Aid:

  • If in Eyes: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists.
  • If on Skin: Wash with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek medical help if irritation occurs.
  • If Inhaled: Move to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing.
  • If Swallowed: Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. Seek emergency medical help immediately.

Handling and Storage:

  • Store in the original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight.
  • Do not reuse container. Triple rinse and dispose of properly.
  • Prevent contamination of food, feed, drinking water, and eating utensils.

Environmental Protection:

  • Do not contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers.
  • Avoid spray drift onto other crops, grazing areas, and non-target areas.

Re-entry Interval:

  • Do not enter treated areas until the spray deposit has dried unless wearing protective clothing.

Resistance Management:

  • Oxyfluorfen is a Group G herbicide. Rotate with herbicides from different group codes to prevent resistance.
  • Avoid prolonged use of Group G herbicides on the same weed population.
  • Integrate control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programs.
